The Deer Hunt

This posting will cover this last week's events, which mostly consisted of Adam engaged in his yearly deer hunt and myself just recuperating from being sick and taking care of Tyson being sick. I'm just glad with this go around of the sicknesses that we didn't have to take Tyson to the hospital, which is what it has regularly been in the past. Basically to document the deer hunt, Adam was given the go ahead to get the landowner's tag for his father's property in East Zion (I missed the deadline to turn in his personal application). Anyways, I had his dad fill out the needed landowner information and Adam took care of the rest in setting everything up for him to go. He left last Friday afternoon and came home Saturday night. He went again Monday morning and brought one home that early evening. Last year he left his deer at the cabin and when he went back to get it it was devoured, except the bones (Bear). I lectured him how it was a waste of our money for the tags as we both had them but I never hunted due to Tyson coming our way and Adam not bringing anything home, so I told him not to waste our money this year. So today we went out to the flat and cut it all up. I mostly lingered around from a distance since it smelled very gross to me and I don't plan on eating any of it, but am glad to have it around for Adam to enjoy with his meals. His brother Jared was decked out for the cutting. As for Susie and I, we went to our doctor's appts. that we scheduled back to back in St. George. Crystal, Adam's younger sister, watched Tyson for us and took him on a walk to visit Shelley, Adam's older sister, at work. That's where we met them before going groc. shopping. That about sums up this past week.

Vegas Weekend

We headed to Las Vegas Friday night and stayed at Hailey and Joe's place. Unfortuneately I didn't act on some moments to take some cute pictures of the kids playing because I wasn't feeling the greatest, but I did want to show off the metal roof that Adam installed on a gazebo with a few of his workers. It turned out really well, but was alot of work. Back to Las Vegas, we went mainly for the BYU vs. UNLV game. Joe, Adam's brother-in-law, rounded up tickets so that Daniel, Susie, Tarek, Monterrey, Ron, Joe, Hailey, Adam and myself were able to go. We had an enjoyable time. We could have done without the crazy traffic getting there and out, the abundance of people with beer (which did make some people a little entertaining to watch), and that most of the action at the game went on at the opposite end of the field from where we were sitting. I enjoyed myself probably a little more since I didn't have Tyson with me to chase around. Adam's sister Lolly was really kind to tend all of the kids that evening. It was enjoyable to get away for the weekend and spend time together with family there. We came back Sunday morning as I taught the lesson in MiaMaids.

It's Been a Long Time...

...since my last posting. Alot has happened but a few noteworthy events to recap as well as events that I have a few photos to include are us taking a trip to Oregon the beginning of September, Shelley (Adam's sister) getting married, and Monica (another of Adam's sisters delivering a little boy, and Adam and I expecting another little one in April (hence my excuse for not staying caught up on our blog. I have miserable nausea).

To begin with the Oregon trip, we had a good time even though I had nausea set in right before, but my dad planned a grandchildren treasure hunt to search for all of their birthday presents that a ficticious pirate named Bodo Tom meaning "Dumb Tom" stole. It was a great adventure ranging from the huge fish (that was referred to as the flying fish to hit Bodo Tom), to the many dollar store gifts found buried next to the X marks the spot, to the shovels and cardboard map to assist in finding and retrieving the buried treasure. Then we sang Happy Birthday to everyone as we each enjoyed a cupcake. I snapped a few pictures of Tyson with his treasure hunting helmet on, Will and Keili having located the loot, and Shayla and Kendra (Ryan and Deanne's girl) sporting their sunglasses from the hunt and ready to enjoy the cupcakes. Mike and MaryJane had their new baby Kaitlyn Jane blessed that weekend so I was able to snap a picture of her and the boys enjoyed playing some basketball with cousins and target shooting. One of Adam's older sisters, Shelley, married Cody Goodfellow the end of September. Adam and some of his crew sheathed and installed metal on a new gazebo that Cody had constructed. They finished just in time for it to be decorated and Susie and I went with them that morning to help set everything up for the wedding and reception. We ended up with enough time to go home and put together the vegetables that we volunteered to bring then get ready and head back for the wedding. It was a fun time and most of the family was there. I didn't take any pictures there but I did snap this one last night after they had just arrived back from their honeymoon and Cody had returned from the Priesthood session of Conference as well as a picture of the men that went in their sharp church attire (except a couple of the younger ones in the back they had their ties and shirts coming off the minute they walked through the door).

Monica, another of Adam's older sisters, found that her water had broke the Saturday morning after the wedding. Luckily her husband hadn't left for the ranch yet, but it came as a surprise to everyone as she was a month early and had never delivered early before. A couple of good things that came from him coming early were that Monica's husband, Doug was going to be heading out of the town the following week for a few days to go deep sea fishing. He was still able to go as Monica stayed here in Southern Utah. This was the other good thing as if Jacob had been born up north in the Salt Lake area he would have had to stay on oxygen for a while longer as the elevation change would make it difficult for his immature lungs to function properly, so being born in Southern Utah made it possible for him to be released from the hospital without being hooked up to oxygen. He is surrounded by children so hopefully he doesn't catch anything as we are heading into the Fall/Winter season. I think that about covers some major events. I do have to comment that Tyson is funner and funner every day. We love this boy in our lives.

Surprise!

...a new truck! That is what Adam and his partner did most of their day yesterday, was purchase a brand new '08 Ford F-350 Truck. They have had to do quite a bit of explaining to many people, but when it comes down to it it will fulfill the needs that the company has and best of all it will pay for itself. Adam's old truck has been sitting in a shop for a week now and neither him or his partner have time to work on it and figure out what is going on or the shop guy of where it is at. The phrase "Time is Money" definitely fits in in Adam's situation. Adam's older brother was asking me yesterday what I thought of it and my thought was that I barely saw it, haven't ridden in it, and best of all Adam warned me not to hit it when I backed out of the garage and my smart remark was, "Then don't park behind me!" This afternoon Susie, Tyson, and I went to the nearby airport to join in in welcoming home Adam's cousin, Taylor. It's always fun to see relatives and get together for such an enjoyable homecoming. Yesterday we slowly cleaned the house in spurts and oddly enough Tyson took a 3 hour nap on the bean bag. He actually enjoys this bag very much as he uses it to play on, climb on, nap on, and even run to and plop himself down on face first while throwing a fit. I think it is a prop for his dramatic tantrums, but yet it is soft enough it won't hurt him.

A Visitor

Tonight we had a surprise visitor, Crystal, Adam's younger sister. She was over our way and stopped in. Apparently she won't have much of a social life as tomorrow she starts her new job as a waitress and is taking quite a few credits at school. We coaxed her into staying for spaghetti dinner and had a great evening as her, Daniel, and Adam reminisced about old family traveling times. Tyson wasn't much for company as he was cranky, tired, and hungry and in no mood to wait for the spaghetti to be ready, so he fell asleep and Crystal had to enjoy loves from him that way.

I Told You So

Quite some time ago I recall asking Adam if we should change our HVAC filters and the reply being "No, those don't need changed for a long time". Realizing now that that was just a copout. A couple of weeks ago we came home from church and noticed some farely large bubbles of paint down our garage wall and then after poking a hole in those and water draining out we went inside to the laundry room and noticed a huge sag in a section of the ceiling. We figured that there must have been something wrong with our air conditioner. Adam finally got around to calling a guy in our ward that specializes in HVAC and he suggested that we check our filters as they could be full and causing condensation to collect, which in turn could be causing our paint bubbles/sagging ceiling problem. Adam got home this afternoon and climbed up onto our landing area and sure enough the filters were way overdue for a change. You can guess what I said after that. While Adam was up there, Tyson kept holding his hands out to Adam, wanting to go up there so we hoisted him up and after walking one way he was ready to get down after there wasn't anywhere else to go.

Another Week Re-cap

Time just flies by. This past week we took a short trip a little more north. My cousin, Sara Ruth was sealed Thursday morning in the Provo temple so Susie, Tyson, and I went up early that morning. After the sealing we went to the lunch and then that evening went to the celebration at the Nielson's Grove Park, which is very neat looking for a park. Great place for a celebration. We were able to spend the afternoon with our brother, Vaughn and met up with Sheldon, Sara Ann, and Marshall at the celebration. Tyson loved dancing to the music and is very entertaining to watch. Friday morning we hung around our sister-in-law's house (Angelyn and Dave) and mostly relaxed then headed towards Provo so Susie could get her haircut from Adam's cousin, Alana. While she did that I went and visited Natalie Rogers (Saunders) and was able to see their new baby boy. Susie and I stopped by The Smokehouse (wonderful food) and ordered out some beef brisket and potatoes for Adam and Daniel as they were headed our way. They wanted to watch the 2nd Harry Potter movie, so we rented that for them which took up the rest of the night. Saturday morning Daniel and Adam got up at 3:30 a.m. and headed to Rexburg to pick up the rest of Susie and Daniel's stuff and to load up his truck that had the transmission go out on it a couple weeks ago. They were definitely loaded down when they came back, which was around 4 p.m. Adam got a nap in before we went to one of his mission companion's wedding reception that luckily wasn't far from Angelyn's. We then met back at Angelyn's house and went to an Asian Buffet with them, Sheldon and Sara Ann, Sondra, Crystal, Daniel and Susie. It was a fun time as we left Tyson this time to be watched. It made me a little nervous, but I know I need to do it more. Everyone met back at Angelyn's house and visited the rest of the evening. Sara and Adam were also there when we came back. We woke up early Sunday morning and headed back home. We didn't have church until 1 p.m. so Adam was able to rest a little. It was a fun relaxing weekend.
