It's a...

BOY! Here is a side view mug shot of the little guy. You can see the eyelids, nose, mouth. Too bad we can't tell if he'll have dimples or a calic, but we'll take him either way. These past few weeks haven't been too eventful, hence the lack of entries. Adam was gone from Tuesday morning to Thursday night working in Heber City and than a little farther north of Park City at Wolf Creek. Luckily it was going to snow at the job Thursday night and Friday, so he came home. This worked out really well, since Tyson and I have been missing him especially since for about three weeks now he has been taking these out of town 3-4 day trips and having him home on the weekends just isn't enough for us. I was glad he was able to make it back and go to the ultrasound appointment on Friday. It's funny because after taking Tyson with us places we are always saying how we need to leave him with someone, but I had a hard time deciding to do that this time since he hadn't seen is dad in a long time and was just too excited to have him home. It will be interesting having two boys, but I know that Tyson will especially love having a little brother to play with and rough around with. Friday night we went to our ward Christmas party and had some yummy dutch oven potatoes, chicken, and cobbler. I had Adam wait in line with Tyson just so I could get this picture. Much more dramatic than last year's. Last night we went for some ice cream and cake for Tyson's cousins, Erika and Emily. Twins are sure funny to watch when it comes to toys. It always seems that no matter how you try to please them they always want what the other has.

Thanksgiving Week Recap

This first picture is of our very talented Tyson. How many almost 18 month olds hold still long enough to balance a spoon on their nose. It took Daniel a few times to try and get it to stick but Tyson was very intrigued by it all and wanted to do it...amazing what the focus of a toddler can do. As for our Thanksgiving trip, it didn't start out the best as we tried to leave on Tuesday evening, but found ourselves not getting very far as we had to turn around after shortly getting on the freeway due to some computer sensor problems. We slept at home that night and then waited all day while Adam was at the Ford dealership having the truck checked out and fixed. We finally were able to leave late in the afternoon traveling all night and getting in to Oregon around 3 a.m. We enjoyed our time with the family. We went to Middleton Thursday morning for the Steele family turkey shoot (clay pigeons) and partake of Mark and Michelle's homemade fries and sauce which makes for a good gathering in the cold. I hit about 6 of 8, so that was way better than a couple years ago. We had to keep an eye on Tyson as he enjoyed wandering around picking up the empty shells. After a yummy Thanksgiving meal we snatched a little nap before the family went to the school and played some basketball. Friday morning the older boys went to the school again and played with George's highschool basketball team during their open gym. After that they drove over to Meridian to meet up with cousins on the Steele side and play a few games there. Saturday morning after some yummy homemade waffles the older boys met up with our cousin Ryan and Bryce and went to Ontario to engage in some paintball wars. Adam had a very difficult time being talked into going because he would miss the BYU/Utah game. Those of us who stayed home and watched the game were very good to not let it slip as to who won so that they could enjoy watching the recording of it when they returned. Adam said it still wasn't the same but we did enjoy watching BYU win. During the short break before watching BYU men's basketball play North Carolina in the Vegas tournament, we all participated (mostly as spectators) in mom's game. Earlier in the day she took the grandkids out on an excursion (one that no one knew where she was going). Come to find out, she took them to Family Dollar and let each of them pick out their own toy, which she wrapped up when they returned home. After we all gathered around this pile of presents we watched as dad had to guess which toy was picked out by which grandchild. The only glitch in the game was that the grandkids didn't like seeing one of the other kids open their present, so they would shout out, "Hey, that's mine!" Which kind of gave away who it belonged to. Nonetheless it was still entertaining and kind of like an early Christmas present from grandma and grandpa. It's always a treat to visit the Owyhee Ward on Sunday. I have a hard time leaving after sacrament meeting, but am glad I get a chance to attend that meeting. Our trip home was long and it will probably be a while before we return due to the baby on the way. I think that about sums it all up. Now it's back to work for Adam and the never ending daily tasks for me.

Park City Week

This past week we spent pretty much the whole time in Park City. Adam and his crew were asked to quickly get a roof done on a cabin for a development company last minute so they headed up there early Monday morning. Susie and I cleaned up the house and packed and ended up picking up some materials that arrived at our supplier's that morning. So while most people pack storage containers or bicycles or skis and snowboards on trips, I was packing some long boxes of soffit metal. The trip took a little longer than expected because we had to slow down to 60 mph at some points due to the wind causing the soffit to start bouncing up and down. So we made it there with out problems late Monday evening and stayed at some friends' of Susie's at Jeremy Ranch. It was definitely nicer to stay in the Proctor's home there than a hotel in Heber City. I know it would have been way more difficult to entertain Tyson in a hotel room than for him to have a home to run around in. Plus he got to make friends with Emma, the Proctor's dog. I couldn't help but snap a picture of him giving her a hug. You would also find him showing love to her by plopping himself down next to her and laying across her back also by giving her open mouth kisses on her hair, which I saw at times he might have come away with some furballs. I took one day and traveled to Provo with Tyson to visit a few friends there and those from my old work. I came away with 2 tickets to the BYU vs TCU football game. Daniel and Susie were nice to offer to watch Tyson for us while Adam and I attended the game Thursday night. We had an enjoyable time especially watching BYU win. I especially enjoyed the opportunity that Adam had to attend his 2nd collegiate football game ever and in the BYU environment at that. Plus we got there early enough (due to Adam's excitement and worry that we would miss the kick off if we didn't leave for there 2 hours early) to each get a 'Y' beanie hat. So even though Tyson wasn't there I took a picture of him later sporting the sweet hat. We arrived back home at 2 am Friday. Adam got a few hours of sleep and headed off to work again. He got home after dark just in time for me to finish cutting Tyson's hair and give him a haircut as well. We then rushed to meet Shelley and Cody at Applebees to drop Tyson off and then rush to the temple to try and make the 7:20 pm session as Adam's cousin Kara was going through and will be sealed later this afternoon there. We were the last ones in the room, but we made the session. It was a rush of a night as I drove there while Adam ate his taco dinner in the car. Don't worry, I made him wear one of my aprons so he wouldn't make a mess. Afterwards we picked up Tyson and headed home because I had a miserable headache...I wonder why! Adam got a little more sleep last night but was up and gone this morning again to drop his workers off and head to grandma's to finish the soffit there. It's going to be a busy day.

Tyson's Day

Today ended up not working quite as Adam and I had planned as we found ourselves tired from a sleepless night with Tyson and then spending most the morning taking care of his situation. He had some respiratory difficulty set in last night and it wasn't getting any better by the time this morning came. Luckily I found out from the assistant on duty at his pediatrician's office that there was another pediatric office open on Saturdays and that we should take him there to get checked out. It ended up being way cheaper than going the emergency room route and they basically did the same stuff with the exception of an IV, waiting for doctors, a room in the hospital and a fat bill in the end. They gave him a breathing treatment along with a prescription for some steroid medicine that should help his situation. So I am pretty much wiped out for the day, but still have way too much to get done. Here is a picture of Tyson having one of his breathing treatment's at home. It takes two of us since he doesn't like having a mask on, but don't worry I wear one of his other masks that is a fish and try to make weird noises to entertain him while Adam holds him down with his dinosaur mask. The scene I'm sure is quite entertaining.

Halloween

This past week ended up being more fun than we planned. Monday night Adam and I were successful at trying to put forth more of an effort at having some sort of family night. Earlier in the day Susie made some yummy sugar cookies, so after dinner, which I made sweet and sour chicken, Adam, Tyson, and I went for a walk around the block, frosted some cookies, and then I suggested Adam take some to his home teaching families, which he didn't quite know if that was a manly thing to do, so I gave him the option to either frost the cookies or go deliver them. He opted to frost them. When I hopped in his truck to go deliver them he came out carrying his shoes. I let him drive and I delivered the cookies to the doors. It worked out well and I was glad to see him realize the manliness of going. It all made for a fun night. Wednesday I dressed Tyson in his pumpkin shirt and then he was a bumblebee for Halloween. We had a few trick or treaters who stopped by earlier in the evening, Adam's nieces and nephew, Emily, Erika, Lizzy, and Josh. We stopped at Roma Ann's, who wasn't home, Aunt Angelyn and Uncle Jack's, who filled his little brown bag, and G-ma and G-pa Stout's. That's where he finished his tootsie pop sucker and thoroughly enjoyed. It was funny at Angelyn and Jack's because when some kids would come to the door and they would let them pick candy out of the bowl, you would find Tyson squeezing in to grab his own handful then turn around and look for Adam who had his little baggy to put it all in. We all got a laugh out of him catching on to his own tricking and treating.

The Deer Hunt

This posting will cover this last week's events, which mostly consisted of Adam engaged in his yearly deer hunt and myself just recuperating from being sick and taking care of Tyson being sick. I'm just glad with this go around of the sicknesses that we didn't have to take Tyson to the hospital, which is what it has regularly been in the past. Basically to document the deer hunt, Adam was given the go ahead to get the landowner's tag for his father's property in East Zion (I missed the deadline to turn in his personal application). Anyways, I had his dad fill out the needed landowner information and Adam took care of the rest in setting everything up for him to go. He left last Friday afternoon and came home Saturday night. He went again Monday morning and brought one home that early evening. Last year he left his deer at the cabin and when he went back to get it it was devoured, except the bones (Bear). I lectured him how it was a waste of our money for the tags as we both had them but I never hunted due to Tyson coming our way and Adam not bringing anything home, so I told him not to waste our money this year. So today we went out to the flat and cut it all up. I mostly lingered around from a distance since it smelled very gross to me and I don't plan on eating any of it, but am glad to have it around for Adam to enjoy with his meals. His brother Jared was decked out for the cutting. As for Susie and I, we went to our doctor's appts. that we scheduled back to back in St. George. Crystal, Adam's younger sister, watched Tyson for us and took him on a walk to visit Shelley, Adam's older sister, at work. That's where we met them before going groc. shopping. That about sums up this past week.

Vegas Weekend

We headed to Las Vegas Friday night and stayed at Hailey and Joe's place. Unfortuneately I didn't act on some moments to take some cute pictures of the kids playing because I wasn't feeling the greatest, but I did want to show off the metal roof that Adam installed on a gazebo with a few of his workers. It turned out really well, but was alot of work. Back to Las Vegas, we went mainly for the BYU vs. UNLV game. Joe, Adam's brother-in-law, rounded up tickets so that Daniel, Susie, Tarek, Monterrey, Ron, Joe, Hailey, Adam and myself were able to go. We had an enjoyable time. We could have done without the crazy traffic getting there and out, the abundance of people with beer (which did make some people a little entertaining to watch), and that most of the action at the game went on at the opposite end of the field from where we were sitting. I enjoyed myself probably a little more since I didn't have Tyson with me to chase around. Adam's sister Lolly was really kind to tend all of the kids that evening. It was enjoyable to get away for the weekend and spend time together with family there. We came back Sunday morning as I taught the lesson in MiaMaids.

It's Been a Long Time...

...since my last posting. Alot has happened but a few noteworthy events to recap as well as events that I have a few photos to include are us taking a trip to Oregon the beginning of September, Shelley (Adam's sister) getting married, and Monica (another of Adam's sisters delivering a little boy, and Adam and I expecting another little one in April (hence my excuse for not staying caught up on our blog. I have miserable nausea).

To begin with the Oregon trip, we had a good time even though I had nausea set in right before, but my dad planned a grandchildren treasure hunt to search for all of their birthday presents that a ficticious pirate named Bodo Tom meaning "Dumb Tom" stole. It was a great adventure ranging from the huge fish (that was referred to as the flying fish to hit Bodo Tom), to the many dollar store gifts found buried next to the X marks the spot, to the shovels and cardboard map to assist in finding and retrieving the buried treasure. Then we sang Happy Birthday to everyone as we each enjoyed a cupcake. I snapped a few pictures of Tyson with his treasure hunting helmet on, Will and Keili having located the loot, and Shayla and Kendra (Ryan and Deanne's girl) sporting their sunglasses from the hunt and ready to enjoy the cupcakes. Mike and MaryJane had their new baby Kaitlyn Jane blessed that weekend so I was able to snap a picture of her and the boys enjoyed playing some basketball with cousins and target shooting. One of Adam's older sisters, Shelley, married Cody Goodfellow the end of September. Adam and some of his crew sheathed and installed metal on a new gazebo that Cody had constructed. They finished just in time for it to be decorated and Susie and I went with them that morning to help set everything up for the wedding and reception. We ended up with enough time to go home and put together the vegetables that we volunteered to bring then get ready and head back for the wedding. It was a fun time and most of the family was there. I didn't take any pictures there but I did snap this one last night after they had just arrived back from their honeymoon and Cody had returned from the Priesthood session of Conference as well as a picture of the men that went in their sharp church attire (except a couple of the younger ones in the back they had their ties and shirts coming off the minute they walked through the door).

Monica, another of Adam's older sisters, found that her water had broke the Saturday morning after the wedding. Luckily her husband hadn't left for the ranch yet, but it came as a surprise to everyone as she was a month early and had never delivered early before. A couple of good things that came from him coming early were that Monica's husband, Doug was going to be heading out of the town the following week for a few days to go deep sea fishing. He was still able to go as Monica stayed here in Southern Utah. This was the other good thing as if Jacob had been born up north in the Salt Lake area he would have had to stay on oxygen for a while longer as the elevation change would make it difficult for his immature lungs to function properly, so being born in Southern Utah made it possible for him to be released from the hospital without being hooked up to oxygen. He is surrounded by children so hopefully he doesn't catch anything as we are heading into the Fall/Winter season. I think that about covers some major events. I do have to comment that Tyson is funner and funner every day. We love this boy in our lives.

Surprise!

...a new truck! That is what Adam and his partner did most of their day yesterday, was purchase a brand new '08 Ford F-350 Truck. They have had to do quite a bit of explaining to many people, but when it comes down to it it will fulfill the needs that the company has and best of all it will pay for itself. Adam's old truck has been sitting in a shop for a week now and neither him or his partner have time to work on it and figure out what is going on or the shop guy of where it is at. The phrase "Time is Money" definitely fits in in Adam's situation. Adam's older brother was asking me yesterday what I thought of it and my thought was that I barely saw it, haven't ridden in it, and best of all Adam warned me not to hit it when I backed out of the garage and my smart remark was, "Then don't park behind me!" This afternoon Susie, Tyson, and I went to the nearby airport to join in in welcoming home Adam's cousin, Taylor. It's always fun to see relatives and get together for such an enjoyable homecoming. Yesterday we slowly cleaned the house in spurts and oddly enough Tyson took a 3 hour nap on the bean bag. He actually enjoys this bag very much as he uses it to play on, climb on, nap on, and even run to and plop himself down on face first while throwing a fit. I think it is a prop for his dramatic tantrums, but yet it is soft enough it won't hurt him.

A Visitor

Tonight we had a surprise visitor, Crystal, Adam's younger sister. She was over our way and stopped in. Apparently she won't have much of a social life as tomorrow she starts her new job as a waitress and is taking quite a few credits at school. We coaxed her into staying for spaghetti dinner and had a great evening as her, Daniel, and Adam reminisced about old family traveling times. Tyson wasn't much for company as he was cranky, tired, and hungry and in no mood to wait for the spaghetti to be ready, so he fell asleep and Crystal had to enjoy loves from him that way.

I Told You So

Quite some time ago I recall asking Adam if we should change our HVAC filters and the reply being "No, those don't need changed for a long time". Realizing now that that was just a copout. A couple of weeks ago we came home from church and noticed some farely large bubbles of paint down our garage wall and then after poking a hole in those and water draining out we went inside to the laundry room and noticed a huge sag in a section of the ceiling. We figured that there must have been something wrong with our air conditioner. Adam finally got around to calling a guy in our ward that specializes in HVAC and he suggested that we check our filters as they could be full and causing condensation to collect, which in turn could be causing our paint bubbles/sagging ceiling problem. Adam got home this afternoon and climbed up onto our landing area and sure enough the filters were way overdue for a change. You can guess what I said after that. While Adam was up there, Tyson kept holding his hands out to Adam, wanting to go up there so we hoisted him up and after walking one way he was ready to get down after there wasn't anywhere else to go.

Another Week Re-cap

Time just flies by. This past week we took a short trip a little more north. My cousin, Sara Ruth was sealed Thursday morning in the Provo temple so Susie, Tyson, and I went up early that morning. After the sealing we went to the lunch and then that evening went to the celebration at the Nielson's Grove Park, which is very neat looking for a park. Great place for a celebration. We were able to spend the afternoon with our brother, Vaughn and met up with Sheldon, Sara Ann, and Marshall at the celebration. Tyson loved dancing to the music and is very entertaining to watch. Friday morning we hung around our sister-in-law's house (Angelyn and Dave) and mostly relaxed then headed towards Provo so Susie could get her haircut from Adam's cousin, Alana. While she did that I went and visited Natalie Rogers (Saunders) and was able to see their new baby boy. Susie and I stopped by The Smokehouse (wonderful food) and ordered out some beef brisket and potatoes for Adam and Daniel as they were headed our way. They wanted to watch the 2nd Harry Potter movie, so we rented that for them which took up the rest of the night. Saturday morning Daniel and Adam got up at 3:30 a.m. and headed to Rexburg to pick up the rest of Susie and Daniel's stuff and to load up his truck that had the transmission go out on it a couple weeks ago. They were definitely loaded down when they came back, which was around 4 p.m. Adam got a nap in before we went to one of his mission companion's wedding reception that luckily wasn't far from Angelyn's. We then met back at Angelyn's house and went to an Asian Buffet with them, Sheldon and Sara Ann, Sondra, Crystal, Daniel and Susie. It was a fun time as we left Tyson this time to be watched. It made me a little nervous, but I know I need to do it more. Everyone met back at Angelyn's house and visited the rest of the evening. Sara and Adam were also there when we came back. We woke up early Sunday morning and headed back home. We didn't have church until 1 p.m. so Adam was able to rest a little. It was a fun relaxing weekend.

Watching the Twins

This morning Heidi brought Erika and Emily over for Susie and I to take care of while she had some errands to run. Tyson was pretty excited to have some playmates over. They played well for the most part which was kind of surprising since the twins usually gang up on Tyson and get the better of him. Tyson was good to share his toys, which the girls seemed to be more interested in than Tyson has been lately. We turned on music for all of them to dance to and that was pretty entertaining for us to watch. Actually I found myself getting dizzy because the girls dance by spinning in circles for a long time. Tyson does more of the head banging thing. After Heidi picked them up, Susie and I finished cleaning the house and getting everything ready to go to Provo/Highland for the rest of the week.

Update

It's been another week without me blogging, so this will be a catch up post. Last Thursday night, after dinner, Adam took me out to Dairy Queen for ice cream. It has been a very long time since we have gone out by ourselves...so long that it felt a little weird. The funny part was that neither of us were in the mood for ice cream, but I wasn't about to ruin Adam's idea for going out. We then went out to the flat to fuel up his truck so that we could head out early Friday morning towards Bryce Canyon. Skyline Roofing had a job out there at the Pines Restaurant to do, so we hung out there, stayed the night, and headed back home Saturday afternoon. This is the second time I have been out that way and not made it to Bryce Canyon. After arriving home I gave Adam his haircut and Tyson got his from Adam. We headed to the County Fair, ate some navajo tacos, walked around the booths, and made sure to get good seats for the Demolition Derby and Rock Crawl showing. Adam and I have decided that this type of outing is not for Tyson as it was pretty hot out and he just wanted to keep going outside whenever we were in a building and any time the cars would smash into each other he would start crying and was basically scared the whole time. We're thinking of just making two trips next year. Once for Tyson, the second for just Adam and myself.

The DeJaVue Week

Since the last post a week ago, we have had quite a bit happen this week that makes me feel like it was the same week three weeks ago. I think this time I will get a recap as I ran out of discs for taking pictures and the circumstances at the time were not exciting, but more of a scare for Adam and I.

Wednesday: Tyson slept well, but around 5:30 he gave out a cry and Adam found him having fallen off his bed. He brought him in with us and he slept fine the rest of the morning. Around 9 am shortly after Tyson woke up and had his diaper changed he started breathing weird (sounded like short huffy breathes). It lasted for a short time and I got him a bottle thinking that maybe he was just crying for a bottle. I did decide to give him a portion of his breathing treatment, which he had finished a series of three weeks ago. It didn't seem to do much for him but he seemed alright a short time later and was off to play with his toys. After we ate breakfast he just wanted me to be right there by him and I found him coming to me again with the same breathing condition. I didn't know what else I could do and I could tell he was in pain as he would shift from one sitting position to another, crying the whole time, and not able to get comfortable. I called the pediatrician's office and informed them of his morning in which they asked me to bring him in right away. I did and on our way there he fell asleep and I could not wake him by the shake of his foot or yelling out his name. After arriving at the Pediatrician's office he was completely fine again and I thought that the Ped. would think I was making it all up or overexaggerating, but before she came in to see him he started his breathing thing again. She walked by our open door and heard him, then came in and watched him. When it was all over he was out of it again. After a few other maneurisms she said that she thinks he has been having seizures especially from what she just witnessed. I'm just glad that she was able to see what she had seen. I agreed that it could be something like that out of the ordinary of his routine. She ordered a CAT scan of his head and that he be admitted to the hospital. This time I drove him over and we were put in the pediatric unit again. This time Adam was able to come right away and meet us there, which I was a little demanding in because I just didn't know how I could handle all of this again. I requested that they try his feet first for putting in the IV, which they were able to get the first time. Aside from all the normal procedures of hooking him up to monitors he had an EEG test done that evening, which is where they put 24 wires all over his head and get a reading of his brain wave activity. Luckily and unfortunately Tyson did not have any visible signs of a seizure/episode the rest of the time we were there.

Thursday: The night at the hospital went fine. Tyson was a tough child to share a hospital bed with. He began to get excited and ready to venture out in the halls. I waited all morning as usual for him to be discharged after his Ped. came by to check on his status. Once again you would not have thought that the day before he was having problems. A friend picked us up and we ran a few errands with them. We were exhausted after getting home and I very much so wanted a nap, but Tyson was glad to be home too. The rest of the evening went well.

Friday: Tyson slept in our bed. We woke up at 2:30 to him having another breathing episode (seizure). It ended up being a long morning as everything continued on until around 5:30 p.m. Basically from 2:30-6:30 a.m., Adam and I rotated standing up with Tyson trying to comfort him while he experienced the semi-seizures varying in length from less than 1 min. to 8 min. at less than 1 min. to 25 min. intervals. We knew that taking him to the emergency room would not do any good, but when we wondered about his hydration level we decided to take him in for that. I asked the guy at the emergency room entrance what he thought and he said that between then and 1 1/2 hours later (which is when the Ped.'s office opened) Tyson would not get dehydrated. So I walked around outside with him the rest of the morning until the Ped's office opened. The assistants there called his Ped. and she instructed them to give him Motrin, which calmed him down and allowed him to sleep. When the Ped made it in she checked him over and tried to get his EEG results from Salt Lake. From what his Ped. relayed to Primary Children's they suggested that she treat him for seizures and not wait for the results. Once again in her office Tyson woke up and was fine and ready to go, running up and down the hall. After getting home and giving him the medication we picked up, we found that it was not helping and he was still having episodes so after calling the Ped's office again she ordered another medication for me to pick up. It seemed to help a little better, but he was having high fevers getting up to 105 degrees. At this time his Ped told me that he must be having a virus that is causing a fever, which is causing the seizures. We worked to get the fever down with rotating tylenol and motrin and once that worked its course he no longer experienced the seizures.

Saturday: Tyson had a great night with Adam and I getting up every 3 hours to rotate the motrin and tylenol. He was ready to take on the day from the time he got up. The funny thing was to watch Tyson trying to walk as he was very crooked and acting like it was his first time walking. Adam and I had to switch off staying by his side as we didn't want him to fall and hit his head. We went out to the shop for Adam to do maintenance on his truck. Tyson finally reached a point that he could walk by himself without being too wobbly. We took it easy for the night after getting the house cleaned up for Sunday.

Sunday: Once again we had another great night and are hoping it will continue. Daniel and Susie pulled in at 2:30 this morning and will be staying with us for a while. Adam started feeling sick last night so he will stay home with Tyson from church. I've heard of others having fevers and sicknesses so there may be something going around. I'm grateful to not be dealing with it myself right now.

A Trip to the Cabin

This afternoon it was decided to go to East Zion and do some work up there. Adam worked in the morning and helped me get the house cleaned up in the afternoon to get it ready for the Sabbath tomorrow and then we hopped in the truck and headed out. It was so green up there and we enjoyed some rain showers. Adam, Tyson, and I had gone on the four wheeler to see where Stuart was with the trackhoe and on the way back they stopped in the rain where they were going to be working so Tyson and I took off on the four-wheeler to the cabin with the rain pelting us. Pour Tyson was sitting in front of me, but he didn't seem to mind it one bit. We went back later to take pictures and went on a 4-wheeler ride. It was funny because when we moved Tyson from the front to being sandwiched between Adam and I he closed his eyes and went to sleep. It was fun and relaxing most of the time. I did realize that I can't plan to prepare any Young Women lessons up there as I just get too distracted and can't focus. We headed back before dark.

A Vist From the Wilsons

Today was especially fun as we had a visit from an old roommate/friend of mine, Kim, and her little girls, Melissa and Anna. They were out here from Boston visiting family and so lucky we live nearby. Sad, that we didn't get to see Boris, her husband but he headed back for work earlier. I did get to see Kim yesterday as she had invited me to join her, her sister, mom, and grandma to go to the temple. I jumped at that chance, leaving Tyson at the flat and had a wonderful time. I'm so glad they let me jump on board with them. Anyways, they did stop by for a short time and we visited, had some PB & J sandwiches, choc. chip cookies, and visited more. It is always refreshing to be around Kim as she is so positive, doesn't talk bad about anyone, always has good advice and experiences she shares, and is just an all around positive influence on me. She has been a great blessing in my life and I'm grateful that we are still friends and keep in touch with what is going on in each others' lives.

Pioneer Day and the Leeds Parade

Today was fun as my cousin, who is also my sister-in-law, was here with her little boy, Marshall, who is 20 days younger than Tyson. We decided last night that we would see when these boys woke up this morning and that would determine whether we went to the Leeds parade. Why that one? My second cousin and his wife started up a business of touring/rides in buggies called Red Rock Rails in Leeds. They had invited us to bring Tyson to ride in one in the parade. We didn't commit to it as we didn't exactly know what we would be doing that morning, so SaraAnn and I decided last minute to go over there and see if we could meet up with them, but they were not there, so we just let the boys watch this cute small town parade and pick up all the candy they wanted. It funny to watch as Tyson would fill both hands with as much candy as he could and then look up and he would even have a piece clenched between his teeth. The poor kid just didn't have enough room in his hands to get all the candy he wanted. The greatest thing was that the parade went past once and then after reaching the end of main street it turned around for a 2nd passing. It was short and sweet, was at 8:30 a.m. and we were done before the sun started to come out and burn us up. I'm glad we did that as Adam, Tyson, and I didn't do anything else the rest of the day that had to do with the holiday. Adam worked and we went back to our normal routine. I am grateful for the pioneers though, and their hard determination to overcome all the trials they battled on their journey for religious freedom and to obey a command from the prophet and therefore the Lord. I'm glad we have a day to pay tribute and remember those sacrifices made.

Tyson's Cousin Day

Today was a day that SaraAnn and I just let Tyson and Marshall play at our house. They loved playing chase, where one starts chasing the other then turns around and runs while the other chases. They did that most of the day. We had to break up a few squabbles, but it was fun. At dinner time we had tacos and after Marshall had already eaten with Sheldon on his lap, he went over to Tyson's highchair and with his long arms would reach across the tray to help Tyson with his food. This actually worked well to get the boys to eat because Marshall would be trying to get Tyson's food and Tyson would be trying to shovel it into his mouth and eat as much as he could before Marshall got a hold of it. Competition can be good for more than we think. Of course after the taco eating fest we had to bathe them. Normally for Tyson it is a quick in and out of the tub, but since he had a cousin to play with then they were having a 'whale' of a time in the water. I'm glad to have finally been able to get them doing something and to snap a shot with both of them looking at me. What cute boys. It is so funny to see these two together as they are so different in their build. It will be fun to see them grow up together.

A Visit to Enterprise

Saturday ended up to be very busy. Tarek came to visit late last night and we watched Man vs. Wild on the T.V. Tyson has began to recognize Tarek right away when he comes and he loves to play with him by him going to hide and Tyson running after to find. We went out to Leeds to visit my 2nd cousin Mike. Him and his wife recently started up a touring business there with some buggies calling it Red Rock Rails. After there we went to Sportsman Warehouse so Tarek could check out some guns as he plans to get one for my dad. Tarek also treated us to lunch which was nice. We got a call from Sara Anne that they were going to come and visit for the weekend and stay with us, so we readied a room for them. I was going to be changing the king size bed that Tyson sleeps on into the larger room in a couple weeks before Susie and Daniel come to stay, so we decided to do it before Sheldon and Sara Anne came. Tarek was put in charge of that while Adam cleaned the bathrooms (toilets and all, what a great husband) and I cleaned around the house to get it ready for Sunday. The funny thing was that while Tarek was trying to change out these two beds, Tyson was right in tow squaking at him as if he was very unhappy with Tarek dismanteling his room. I don't think Tyson likes change. He was okay with it after it was all done. After giving Tyson his breathing treatment we headed to Enterprise to Monterray and Ron's and ate there then went over to their town rodeo. It was fun with Sheldon, Stuart, Matt and their families all there. Have you ever watched a bunch of people try to ride donkeys down an arena, pick up a greased watermelon, and go back with two people per donkey and both having to ride. Pretty entertaining. Adam and Matt left earlier than planned to go to Bryce Canyon to do up a leaky roof which was waiting for the metal to come in. They got back in the early morning hours. Fun weekend.

Hospital Stay

This week so far has been quite out of the ordinary. Sunday evening Tyson had this random allergic reaction to something (we don't quite know) while we were visiting out at the flat. He had this sneezing episode accompanied by itchy nose and eyes. That happened a couple times that night and then Monday morning while he was having some raisin bread toast another sneezing spell came over him. He progressed to some congestion that night and by Tuesday night it was pretty rough for him. I pretty much spent the night on his king size bed (he doesn't have a crib) with him and by 4:30 a.m. I took him in to Adam and asked him to give Tyson a blessing as he was really struggling to breath. I had noticed that he was having what is called "reactors" right underneath his rib cage. Basically his breathing was not normal at all. After the blessing we sat there debating if we should take him to the emergency room or to wait and see if he got better on his own. It was a blessing we were led to the decision to go the emergency room route because he had developed pneumonia/asthma. Confusing to you? It still is to us. Even after leaving there I find it interesting that all the nurses had on their records that he ad pneumonia, but when his pediatritian came this morning to check to see if he could go home she said she had recorded his condition to be (some long words) basically asthma. I tend to go with her observation. All I know is we had to purchase a Nebuliser and some meds to go in it that Tyson takes every 4 hrs the first day, then 6 hrs, then 8 in the form of some breathing treatments. Poor Tyson had a rough go in the emergency room because they couldn't find where they needed to lodge the IV in his arm, so he was poked twice in each arm and finally they were able to put two different IVs in each foot. He just had too much baby fat. He turned alot of heads at the hospital that we were admitted to across town (we even had to ride in an ambulance, free of charge) for the transporting from the emergency room. The nurses just loved him and everyone commented on his very cuteness and big eyes/long eyelashes. I was glad to come home as it was not very fun eating Tyson's leftovers from his kid meals. I get to deal with some irritability and hyper active moods now from his medication. Lucky me. Maybe I'm just getting paid back for what I may have put my parents through when I was younger dealing with asthma. These pictures are of Tyson with his hospital gown on and some socks taped around his legs so he wouldn't fall while "running" around the hospital. They had this little red wagon that they put pillows in to give Tyson the royal treatment outside of his little room. What a cutie and we sure do love him and are glad he is okay now.

Sunday Pig Feeding

Today went well aside from being a little stressed to wrap up my lesson for MiaMaids. I hadn't felt very good all weekend making it difficult to focus on preparing, so I will admit that I went home 2nd hour to finish up after attending sacrament meeting. That really helped me to be in the right mind frame for the lesson. The lesson was about the cycle of Testimony and Obedience. As we are Obedient our testimony grows/strengthens and as that happens then we are more obedient. There was great class participation and I enjoyed hearing from the girls. After church we ate and then headed out to the flat to visit. Shortly after we arrived there G-pa Stout was going out to feed the piggies, which they had recently purchased. He took Tyson with him and I went down to snap a picture. It was fun to sit out there and visit. Shelley and Cody came and Mark and Bonnie were there as well.

It's a Sign

Okay, this was a funny thing that happened to us this afternoon. Adam had recently finished reading "The Richest Man in Babylon" and we were discussing different topics of this and that, when Adam mentioned how his older brother Mark needs to get his jerky business going. Apparently Mark makes some pretty to die for jerky and has thought about starting his own business a time or two. Anyways that seemed to be the last thing that we were discussing when we left the house after deciding to walk to church. While on our walk we passed right over a piece of jerky on the sidewalk. We both started laughing and said, "It's a Sign!" I made sure to relay the story to Mark out at the flat later this evening. Although I didn't go and take a picture of the piece of jerky to prove it I did have this cute picture I couldn't help but take as I found Tyson one morning biting and tugging at my shirt. Random doggy phase he goes through, but really cute.

The Weekend

Our weekend started a little earlier in the week as we made a last minute decision to drive to Highland, UT on Thursday afternoon and then planned to return home Friday evening, but we ended up staying and leaving around 5:45 Saturday morning so that we could get home and still salvage a Saturday. The reason for our quick trip was so that we could see a very dear friend of mine (as well as her family). It has been about 3 years since we last saw each other and back then she wasn't married although she had been dating the guy who she is now married to. They had traveled from Indiana for a family reunion out in Utah and since long days and nights, traveling, and crankiness was keeping them from coming our way I just couldn't miss the opportunity to see them. I'm so grateful for Adam to make arrangements for work and taking the time to come with me, so that he could meet these good friends that have had a great impact on my life. As we left Thursday we went through Cedar Mountain to an area called Strawberry, where Adam did a quick measurement on a roof. From there we traveled another route on Highway 89 towards Provo/Highland area. Adam said the last time he had gone that way was when he was a kid, so who would of guessed that we would have wondered a few times if we were lost or just really out of the way of where we wanted to be. We did make it to Highland and spent a late night visiting with Adam's older sister Angelyn and her family. Adam's parents were there as well just wrapping up a week long visit and headed home Friday morning. It was at that time that Adam finished putting the estimate together for the roof he had just finished measuring on our way there and then we tried to get it faxed to the general contractor. In the second picture Tyson is enjoying some popcorn at his leisure. After that we spent the afternoon with my friends' and their family. These pictures are of their two children, Logan and Laney and then one with my friend. Her husband was on the phone during the picture taking time. After getting back to Angelyn and Dave's home we decided to stay one more night so as not to be sitting in Friday night traffic. Adam spent time playing with his nephews out on the trampoline, playing dodgeball downstairs, and some type of Xbox or one of those types of games. We had an enjoyable time.
