Thanksgiving Week Recap

This first picture is of our very talented Tyson. How many almost 18 month olds hold still long enough to balance a spoon on their nose. It took Daniel a few times to try and get it to stick but Tyson was very intrigued by it all and wanted to do it...amazing what the focus of a toddler can do. As for our Thanksgiving trip, it didn't start out the best as we tried to leave on Tuesday evening, but found ourselves not getting very far as we had to turn around after shortly getting on the freeway due to some computer sensor problems. We slept at home that night and then waited all day while Adam was at the Ford dealership having the truck checked out and fixed. We finally were able to leave late in the afternoon traveling all night and getting in to Oregon around 3 a.m. We enjoyed our time with the family. We went to Middleton Thursday morning for the Steele family turkey shoot (clay pigeons) and partake of Mark and Michelle's homemade fries and sauce which makes for a good gathering in the cold. I hit about 6 of 8, so that was way better than a couple years ago. We had to keep an eye on Tyson as he enjoyed wandering around picking up the empty shells. After a yummy Thanksgiving meal we snatched a little nap before the family went to the school and played some basketball. Friday morning the older boys went to the school again and played with George's highschool basketball team during their open gym. After that they drove over to Meridian to meet up with cousins on the Steele side and play a few games there. Saturday morning after some yummy homemade waffles the older boys met up with our cousin Ryan and Bryce and went to Ontario to engage in some paintball wars. Adam had a very difficult time being talked into going because he would miss the BYU/Utah game. Those of us who stayed home and watched the game were very good to not let it slip as to who won so that they could enjoy watching the recording of it when they returned. Adam said it still wasn't the same but we did enjoy watching BYU win. During the short break before watching BYU men's basketball play North Carolina in the Vegas tournament, we all participated (mostly as spectators) in mom's game. Earlier in the day she took the grandkids out on an excursion (one that no one knew where she was going). Come to find out, she took them to Family Dollar and let each of them pick out their own toy, which she wrapped up when they returned home. After we all gathered around this pile of presents we watched as dad had to guess which toy was picked out by which grandchild. The only glitch in the game was that the grandkids didn't like seeing one of the other kids open their present, so they would shout out, "Hey, that's mine!" Which kind of gave away who it belonged to. Nonetheless it was still entertaining and kind of like an early Christmas present from grandma and grandpa. It's always a treat to visit the Owyhee Ward on Sunday. I have a hard time leaving after sacrament meeting, but am glad I get a chance to attend that meeting. Our trip home was long and it will probably be a while before we return due to the baby on the way. I think that about sums it all up. Now it's back to work for Adam and the never ending daily tasks for me.

Park City Week

This past week we spent pretty much the whole time in Park City. Adam and his crew were asked to quickly get a roof done on a cabin for a development company last minute so they headed up there early Monday morning. Susie and I cleaned up the house and packed and ended up picking up some materials that arrived at our supplier's that morning. So while most people pack storage containers or bicycles or skis and snowboards on trips, I was packing some long boxes of soffit metal. The trip took a little longer than expected because we had to slow down to 60 mph at some points due to the wind causing the soffit to start bouncing up and down. So we made it there with out problems late Monday evening and stayed at some friends' of Susie's at Jeremy Ranch. It was definitely nicer to stay in the Proctor's home there than a hotel in Heber City. I know it would have been way more difficult to entertain Tyson in a hotel room than for him to have a home to run around in. Plus he got to make friends with Emma, the Proctor's dog. I couldn't help but snap a picture of him giving her a hug. You would also find him showing love to her by plopping himself down next to her and laying across her back also by giving her open mouth kisses on her hair, which I saw at times he might have come away with some furballs. I took one day and traveled to Provo with Tyson to visit a few friends there and those from my old work. I came away with 2 tickets to the BYU vs TCU football game. Daniel and Susie were nice to offer to watch Tyson for us while Adam and I attended the game Thursday night. We had an enjoyable time especially watching BYU win. I especially enjoyed the opportunity that Adam had to attend his 2nd collegiate football game ever and in the BYU environment at that. Plus we got there early enough (due to Adam's excitement and worry that we would miss the kick off if we didn't leave for there 2 hours early) to each get a 'Y' beanie hat. So even though Tyson wasn't there I took a picture of him later sporting the sweet hat. We arrived back home at 2 am Friday. Adam got a few hours of sleep and headed off to work again. He got home after dark just in time for me to finish cutting Tyson's hair and give him a haircut as well. We then rushed to meet Shelley and Cody at Applebees to drop Tyson off and then rush to the temple to try and make the 7:20 pm session as Adam's cousin Kara was going through and will be sealed later this afternoon there. We were the last ones in the room, but we made the session. It was a rush of a night as I drove there while Adam ate his taco dinner in the car. Don't worry, I made him wear one of my aprons so he wouldn't make a mess. Afterwards we picked up Tyson and headed home because I had a miserable headache...I wonder why! Adam got a little more sleep last night but was up and gone this morning again to drop his workers off and head to grandma's to finish the soffit there. It's going to be a busy day.

Tyson's Day

Today ended up not working quite as Adam and I had planned as we found ourselves tired from a sleepless night with Tyson and then spending most the morning taking care of his situation. He had some respiratory difficulty set in last night and it wasn't getting any better by the time this morning came. Luckily I found out from the assistant on duty at his pediatrician's office that there was another pediatric office open on Saturdays and that we should take him there to get checked out. It ended up being way cheaper than going the emergency room route and they basically did the same stuff with the exception of an IV, waiting for doctors, a room in the hospital and a fat bill in the end. They gave him a breathing treatment along with a prescription for some steroid medicine that should help his situation. So I am pretty much wiped out for the day, but still have way too much to get done. Here is a picture of Tyson having one of his breathing treatment's at home. It takes two of us since he doesn't like having a mask on, but don't worry I wear one of his other masks that is a fish and try to make weird noises to entertain him while Adam holds him down with his dinosaur mask. The scene I'm sure is quite entertaining.

Halloween

This past week ended up being more fun than we planned. Monday night Adam and I were successful at trying to put forth more of an effort at having some sort of family night. Earlier in the day Susie made some yummy sugar cookies, so after dinner, which I made sweet and sour chicken, Adam, Tyson, and I went for a walk around the block, frosted some cookies, and then I suggested Adam take some to his home teaching families, which he didn't quite know if that was a manly thing to do, so I gave him the option to either frost the cookies or go deliver them. He opted to frost them. When I hopped in his truck to go deliver them he came out carrying his shoes. I let him drive and I delivered the cookies to the doors. It worked out well and I was glad to see him realize the manliness of going. It all made for a fun night. Wednesday I dressed Tyson in his pumpkin shirt and then he was a bumblebee for Halloween. We had a few trick or treaters who stopped by earlier in the evening, Adam's nieces and nephew, Emily, Erika, Lizzy, and Josh. We stopped at Roma Ann's, who wasn't home, Aunt Angelyn and Uncle Jack's, who filled his little brown bag, and G-ma and G-pa Stout's. That's where he finished his tootsie pop sucker and thoroughly enjoyed. It was funny at Angelyn and Jack's because when some kids would come to the door and they would let them pick candy out of the bowl, you would find Tyson squeezing in to grab his own handful then turn around and look for Adam who had his little baggy to put it all in. We all got a laugh out of him catching on to his own tricking and treating.

The Deer Hunt

This posting will cover this last week's events, which mostly consisted of Adam engaged in his yearly deer hunt and myself just recuperating from being sick and taking care of Tyson being sick. I'm just glad with this go around of the sicknesses that we didn't have to take Tyson to the hospital, which is what it has regularly been in the past. Basically to document the deer hunt, Adam was given the go ahead to get the landowner's tag for his father's property in East Zion (I missed the deadline to turn in his personal application). Anyways, I had his dad fill out the needed landowner information and Adam took care of the rest in setting everything up for him to go. He left last Friday afternoon and came home Saturday night. He went again Monday morning and brought one home that early evening. Last year he left his deer at the cabin and when he went back to get it it was devoured, except the bones (Bear). I lectured him how it was a waste of our money for the tags as we both had them but I never hunted due to Tyson coming our way and Adam not bringing anything home, so I told him not to waste our money this year. So today we went out to the flat and cut it all up. I mostly lingered around from a distance since it smelled very gross to me and I don't plan on eating any of it, but am glad to have it around for Adam to enjoy with his meals. His brother Jared was decked out for the cutting. As for Susie and I, we went to our doctor's appts. that we scheduled back to back in St. George. Crystal, Adam's younger sister, watched Tyson for us and took him on a walk to visit Shelley, Adam's older sister, at work. That's where we met them before going groc. shopping. That about sums up this past week.

Vegas Weekend

We headed to Las Vegas Friday night and stayed at Hailey and Joe's place. Unfortuneately I didn't act on some moments to take some cute pictures of the kids playing because I wasn't feeling the greatest, but I did want to show off the metal roof that Adam installed on a gazebo with a few of his workers. It turned out really well, but was alot of work. Back to Las Vegas, we went mainly for the BYU vs. UNLV game. Joe, Adam's brother-in-law, rounded up tickets so that Daniel, Susie, Tarek, Monterrey, Ron, Joe, Hailey, Adam and myself were able to go. We had an enjoyable time. We could have done without the crazy traffic getting there and out, the abundance of people with beer (which did make some people a little entertaining to watch), and that most of the action at the game went on at the opposite end of the field from where we were sitting. I enjoyed myself probably a little more since I didn't have Tyson with me to chase around. Adam's sister Lolly was really kind to tend all of the kids that evening. It was enjoyable to get away for the weekend and spend time together with family there. We came back Sunday morning as I taught the lesson in MiaMaids.

It's Been a Long Time...

...since my last posting. Alot has happened but a few noteworthy events to recap as well as events that I have a few photos to include are us taking a trip to Oregon the beginning of September, Shelley (Adam's sister) getting married, and Monica (another of Adam's sisters delivering a little boy, and Adam and I expecting another little one in April (hence my excuse for not staying caught up on our blog. I have miserable nausea).

To begin with the Oregon trip, we had a good time even though I had nausea set in right before, but my dad planned a grandchildren treasure hunt to search for all of their birthday presents that a ficticious pirate named Bodo Tom meaning "Dumb Tom" stole. It was a great adventure ranging from the huge fish (that was referred to as the flying fish to hit Bodo Tom), to the many dollar store gifts found buried next to the X marks the spot, to the shovels and cardboard map to assist in finding and retrieving the buried treasure. Then we sang Happy Birthday to everyone as we each enjoyed a cupcake. I snapped a few pictures of Tyson with his treasure hunting helmet on, Will and Keili having located the loot, and Shayla and Kendra (Ryan and Deanne's girl) sporting their sunglasses from the hunt and ready to enjoy the cupcakes. Mike and MaryJane had their new baby Kaitlyn Jane blessed that weekend so I was able to snap a picture of her and the boys enjoyed playing some basketball with cousins and target shooting. One of Adam's older sisters, Shelley, married Cody Goodfellow the end of September. Adam and some of his crew sheathed and installed metal on a new gazebo that Cody had constructed. They finished just in time for it to be decorated and Susie and I went with them that morning to help set everything up for the wedding and reception. We ended up with enough time to go home and put together the vegetables that we volunteered to bring then get ready and head back for the wedding. It was a fun time and most of the family was there. I didn't take any pictures there but I did snap this one last night after they had just arrived back from their honeymoon and Cody had returned from the Priesthood session of Conference as well as a picture of the men that went in their sharp church attire (except a couple of the younger ones in the back they had their ties and shirts coming off the minute they walked through the door).

Monica, another of Adam's older sisters, found that her water had broke the Saturday morning after the wedding. Luckily her husband hadn't left for the ranch yet, but it came as a surprise to everyone as she was a month early and had never delivered early before. A couple of good things that came from him coming early were that Monica's husband, Doug was going to be heading out of the town the following week for a few days to go deep sea fishing. He was still able to go as Monica stayed here in Southern Utah. This was the other good thing as if Jacob had been born up north in the Salt Lake area he would have had to stay on oxygen for a while longer as the elevation change would make it difficult for his immature lungs to function properly, so being born in Southern Utah made it possible for him to be released from the hospital without being hooked up to oxygen. He is surrounded by children so hopefully he doesn't catch anything as we are heading into the Fall/Winter season. I think that about covers some major events. I do have to comment that Tyson is funner and funner every day. We love this boy in our lives.
